Making sure your business’s digital footprint is picture-perfect is more important than ever. Many times your Google My Business profile is the first thing that potential customers see. And many business owners aren’t even exactly aware of what exactly it is, at Wanderlust we’ve got all of the Best Practices to enable business owners to optimize their Google My Business profiles.
Best Practices for Google My Business
- Claim your Google My Business Profile.
- Make sure every section of the Google My Business account is complete.
- Be meticulous with contact information, of course, if possible add in a tracking number so that you can see exactly what is coming in off of GMB for your business.
- Select primary and secondary categories, and add products and services.
- Select applicable attributes. These are special features that potential customers will seek out. For example, if you offer ‘Emergency service’ this would be an important attribute to select.
- Add photos and post to your profile. It is important for you to add quality photos. These photos need to be relevant to your business and services you offer. These photos will show up in Google image results and help increase engagement. One tip is to add one new photo at least every seven days.
- Get Google Reviews. The business with the highest rated and biggest number of Google reviews will most often get the call. Reviews are the #1 influence on consumer buying. It is important to request reviews after jobs or purchases are completed.
- Ask and answer questions. If customers and potential customers ask questions on your profile it’s important to answer any questions that might be asked. And of course, to help search engine optimization it is important to mention your services and important details in your replies.
- Have alerts set up so that you know when a review or a question comes in that needs to be answered. The best practice is to respond within in 24-48 hours.
- Maintain your Business Profile with a solid GMB strategy, and constantly keep even minor details updated. If you have a suite number added to your business, add it!
